Introduction to Basic Ice Climbing Course

This is a 2 day course running on both Saturday & Sunday. No experience is required.  Technical climbing equipment and boots will be provided.

Clinic Instructors

Guest instructor are cutting edge climbers.  All clinics will be supervised by guides from Yamnuska Mountain Adventures that are certified by either the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG) or the International Federation of Mountain Guide Association (IFMGA). 

Gear & tools

You need to bring lots of warm clothes, food for the day, a thermos of hot liquid, first aid kit, your personal climbing gear - helmet, tools, crampons, belay device, eye protection (if desired). The instructors and CICF will supply the ropes, quick draws, anchor material and protection.  There is will be DEMO equipment at the Yamnuska office on the morning of the clinic that you will be able to borrow for the day.

If you need to rent equipment, please contact GEAR UP in Canmore.

Transportation

Participants will need to provide their own transportation to/from the climbing the area.  Instructors can not drive participants.

 

Important:

ALL CLINIC PARTICIPANTS AND ICE WALL USERS MUST SIGN A LIABILITY WAIVER before they will be able to attend the clinics or climb on the artificial ice wall.
